Don’t Blink! It’s official! Debbie Oenning with Sterling Commerce is the 2007 B-to-B Marketer of the Year! And as Sterling’s B2B marketing Agency of Record, we have the video to prove it!
Okay. So it wasn’t as fabulous as the Academy Awards. But for Sterling Commerce (a subsidiary of AT&T that in a single year was able to turn extraordinarily low brand awareness into market growth and leads leads leads), it’s an honor worth singing about. And for Debbie, Sterling’s Director of America’s Marketing, it’s a well-deserved pat on the back.
Of course, she would never tell you that. “I’m just the face,” she says. “The real credit goes to the incredible team I have.”
The announcement was made at the DMA B-to-B Marketing Conference in Orlando, Florida (watch it unfold in this on-the-scene video clip), where Debbie shared her true colors and inspiration as a marketer.
Want some of her insight? BtoB Magazine recently spoke with her about marketing and the award.
She and Sterling Commerce have partnered with B&J for two years. 2007 saw the launch of Sterling’s “Don’t Blink” creative theme, which became a key indicator in Debbie’s award-winning strategy. “Don’t Blink” became the creative synergy for multiple targets, messages, channels and tactics including direct mail, email, search engine optimization, pay-per-click, webcasts, podcasts, content syndication, events, print media and telemarketing. Every campaign executed under the theme had one thing in common — You just accomplished something grand, but complex. Don’t Blink. If you don’t handle it quickly, someone else will.
So what’s the criteria to be Marketer of the Year? You must be noteworthy for your significant contributions to the B-to-B marketing discipline. This includes leadership, advancing the growth of the discipline, as well as creative innovation in strategy and method. The “Don’t Blink” theme, customer reference and loyalty program, and content-rich customer community are proof positive that Debbie (with her team and B&J by her side
is truly worthy.
Congratulations, Deb! Don’t forget us now that you’re famous!
