Well, it’s hard to believe that eight weeks have passed since I started my internship here at Babcock & Jenkins. I’ve learned a lot these past two months, and the experience turned out to be much different than I anticipated.
I am a marketing major at the University of Oregon, and since I was starting an internship at a marketing firm, I assumed I would put all of my textbook knowledge of survey administration and demographic research to the test.
Not the case, and thank God.
I must admit, the first week or two was a little stressful as I learned how the agency ran and tried to keep up with the new lingo. Trying to remember everybody’s name was a battle I just recently won. After I got adjusted however, things were great. I was exposed to all the different departments in the agency, invited to sit on the launch of an international campaign, helped film videos, routed campaigns for approval, and was even a part of Babcock & Jenkins’ own record-breaking internal campaign.
All in all, the experience was fantastic. I am heading back down to UO this month and although I won’t miss waking up at seven every day, it’ll be a little weird without B&J. I learned more than I ever thought I would in such a short period of time and worked alongside some unbelievably talented people. It was a privilege to work in such a well respected and successful agency. Thank You!
